I loved the book growing up, so I was worried going in to this, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The only thing that seemed wrong to me is the place Max goes to isn't just inside his room - he leaves the house to find the wilderness. I think that loses something of the "this is Max escaping his problems by retreating inside himself" aspect of the book.
