Shrek 2 (73)

In continuing of my weekend of movie watching madness, Shrek 2 was on the cards for watching this afternoon. Other than dealing with hordes of kids (having only taken one with us, who was very well behaved), and their parents, it was an enjoyable afternoon.

The assessment of miss Emma (the 7 year old who joined us) was that "it was better than the first". For me, if not better it certainly came close. In some ways it follows a similar pattern (uncertainty over ones identity, annoying talking animals...), although Donkey does get his wish to be a noble steed. (Although we knew he was all along, right?)

Antonio Banderas brought the character Puss In Boots to life, and the animators did an excellent job of making his "cute" face particularly cat like. John Cleese wasn't so immediately identifiable, I didn't pick it for most of the movie. Jennifer Saunders as the Fairy Godmother was amazing! (Must rent some more Absolutely Fabulous.)

It also bears mention that there are plenty of adult jokes in Shrek 2, just as in the first, go right over the heads of the younger audience members.

Where can I get my medieval meal?

  • Would I reccomend you see it? Yes - even if you didn't see the first.
  • Would I see it again? Sure.
  • Will I own it on DVD? I do.

I own this movie on:
DVD 4
