Initially when I saw the ads for Brother Bear in the cinemas I thought "oh great, another Disney film". It was saved by the Moose and the "if you're only going to see one movie this year" lines.
Then Mum saw it earlier this year in Noumea, in French, and said it wasn't bad, so when I needed some movies to grab the 5-for-$10 special, I added this one in there.
I was pleasantly surprised - this is one of the better "Disney" animated flics of late. The water colour look of backgrounds is quite a contrast to the "ultra realistic" look of Pixar films, it's a relief to know that computer technology is able to help to keep the old school style of animation alive as well.
It is worth noting that this film is really really good looking - the colours (and the use of increased/decreased contrast too) is spectacular.
The soundtrack includes original songs by Phil Collins, such No Way Out (expressing the discovery that the Bear makes of his journey) and On My Way.
I enjoyed it, at least.
