Big Fish (80)

I purchased Big Fish nearly two weeks ago (on DVD), and finally watched it last night. I saw it twice at the cinemas, so I knew that I was going to enjoy it. I love stories, and have a great deal of admiration for those who can tell great stories. For the most part I'm not one of those people, unfortunately.

This movie delivered, again. The idea that there are two ways for an event to be remembered: as straight facts, or as a story that is interesting. I know I much prefer the story about the wedding ring and the fish.

The film never tells you which characters are real, or exaggerated. The best part (for me) was the son coming to realise that the stories are the person. In ending it says that through stories a person can become immortal, so very true.

All we are, are our stories.

  • Will I watch it again? Yes sir.
  • Would I recommend you see it? Yes.
  • Would I own it on DVD? I do!
  • Overall score: 8/10.

I own this movie on:
DVD 4
